The Fuji Shibazakura Festival at Lake Motosu near Mt Fuji is one
of the best locations to see the shibazakura flowers, also known as
pink or phlox moss. The festival is just south of Lake Motosuko in
the Fuji Five Lakes area, offering breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji
while the vast shibazakura flower field sits in the foreground. The
festival is held from mid-April through early June and peak bloom
usually falls on first few weeks of May. Approximately 800,000
stalks of five varieties of shibazakura are on display, producing
vibrant fields of pink, white and purple. Stalls selling pots of pink
moss, shibazakura themed souvenirs, food and local produce
complete the festival. Enjoy a delightful buffet style lunch at the
Highland Resort Hotel. The tour will take you all the way to Mt
Fuji’s 5th station via the Subaru Line, so you can enjoy all the
beauty of this bold volcano. Remember to bring your camera!
