and is considered one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan. Its
u-shaped structure guides water from three different directions,
creating a fall that’s 100 feet in width. Take a leisurely walk along
the river and marvel at the breathtaking views of the Fukiware
Waterfall and its natural surroundings. Takasaki Byakue Kannon, or
White-Robed Kannon, is a large statue of the goddess of mercy,
Kannon. She stands on Jigan-in Temple grounds in Takasaki,
Gunma prefecture. At 137 feet tall, it has nine levels and 146
steps. The levels are lined with 20 statues of Buddhist deities. It

kilometers one-way (1.5 miles) on paved and unpaved path to the
park. The walk to the park may be difficult for smaller children.
The ground around the cherry trees may be soft and muddy.
*Since the monkeys are wild, they may not always be in the park.
The summer scene at the Nagano Jigokudani monkey park is
quite different than that of the winter months. The trees are
full of green leaves, which shade the hot sun, and vegetation
is covering most of the ground. This environment brings the
monkeys closer to the park and gives them places to hide and
rest. There are also wild berries, flowers and insects for them
to eat. It’s also an important time for most of the babies that
were born in the early spring to make their appearance to other
monkeys and to us visitors. During this time, you will be able
to see mothers with their babies. After the monkey park, we
will stop by Shinshu Fruits Land for some cherry picking with
all-you-can-eat cherries for 30 minutes.

more than twenty houses that have been converted into shops,
restaurants, museums and galleries. The Fuji Kachoen Garden
Park welcomes you with over 30 varieties of feathered friends.
The owl enclosure holds more than 100 owls and most are quite
friendly to people! The park is also home to an extensive selection
of over 10,000 begonias, fuchsias and hydrangeas which are
exhibited at the park. You can enjoy these blooming flowers all
year round. One of the Fuji Caves that has been opened to the

Odawa City developed as a castle town under the Hojo Clan
during the Warring States period in the 16th century. The city’s
symbol is the Odawara Castle overlooking the local landscape.
The castle was originally built in the mid-15th century and soon
fell into the hands of the Hojo Clan, one of the most powerful
clans of its time. However, in 1590, Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked
the castle, and with the defeat of the Hojo Clan, reunited
Japan. The castle has been turned into a museum, displaying
relics of its time.
Minaka Odawara Mall is a commercial facility with shopping and
dining options. In the courtyard is the Odawara Shin Joka Machi,
an Edo style recreation of an old castle town with shopping
and dining options.
