Would you like to meet a samurai? Have you ever seen a ninja
in action? Centuries ago, samurai and ninja lived together in
Edo, the place where Tokyo stands today. The atmosphere of
old Edo continues to thrive in Nikko Edo Village, a theme park
that reproduces the customs, cultures and society of Japan’s Edo
Period (1603–1867). This is not a museum, but an attempt to
produce a faithful re-creation of everyday life in old Edo. Visitors
are transformed from mere onlookers into active participants in
the daily activities of Edo townsfolk.
